A prequel about the character Mufasa from Disney's classic animated film The Lion King.

After the events of the first movie, Simba and Nala are in anxious anticipation of a new baby. Their first daughter Kiara, meanwhile, remains in the care of Timon, Pumbaa and Rafiki, who decide to tell her the real story of Mufasa, her late grandfather and former king of the Pride Parade. As a young lion cub, Mufasa loses his parents in a massive flood - the current carries him into the wild jungle. Mufasa manages to escape by chance - on the shore he is spotted by another royal lion cub, Taku, who brings him into his pride and helps him find a new family. Alas, the seemingly strong friendship between Mufasa and Taku is marred by jealousy on the part of the latter. Mufasa grows up to be a stronger and wiser leader than Taku, and many see him as the future king. The situation becomes more complicated when their pack is attacked by a group of white lions and Taku colludes with them.
