0 The two orphaned Gelhorn twin sisters move from the capital to a small provincial town, where they are placed under the guardianship of their Uncle Gustav, the head of the local religious brotherhood. One of the sisters falls in love with Count Karnstein, who sacrificed one of the village girls to Satan and was turned into a vampire as a result. Soon, she, too, becomes a vampire.
