Female astronaut Sam Walker returns to Earth after her first space flight, but the capsule's entry into the atmosphere does not go according to plan. Communication with the ship is lost for a short time, the capsule is damaged, and Sam's body is covered with bruises and abrasions. As a result, the descent vehicle lands in the middle of the ocean. Sam is rescued and quarantined in a luxurious and isolated forest mansion in Virginia under the supervision of General William Harris, her adoptive father. Sam notices that her wounds are not healing and that inexplicable events are taking place in the house. The girl begins to suspect that something extraterrestrial has returned with her from space.
