The prologue is followed by two chapters — creation and farewell: in the first, scientist Victor Frankenstein, obsessed with the idea of defeating death, experiments with eugenics and electricity. In the next, the miracle born of experiments wants to learn to live and even love, but his timid feelings towards the world around him are doomed to be unrequited because of the external ugliness of the creature, stitched together from other bodies.
