Norman Bates' birthday. Norman is listening to the radio, waiting for his wife to come home from work. She is a psychoanalyst and met him while he was in a mental institution. Norman's rehabilitation process seems to be going well. But all seemed well only until he found out she was pregnant. Norman believes his problems are a genetic predisposition, so he does not want to have children, fearing that they will grow up to be just as psychotic.
