The Grapes of Wrath 1940

After serving a prison sentence for murder, Tom Joad returns to his family’s ranch, which by that time has been completely ruined and lies in ruins. With no prospect of finding work in arid Oklahoma, the entire family packs up their belongings and sets off for the “Promised Land”—California. But the arduous journey and harsh conditions fail to bring the hope they sought, and even the family’s unity is put to the test.
